Learning How To Wash a Woolly Mammoth – add bubbles!

Phew! What a day Thursday was! I was invited to perform at the brand new Cully Loves Books Festival in Cullompton, Devon and I’m so glad I was able to take part.

Little Ding Dong Gorillas!

Little Ding Dong Gorillas!

We had a bright and early start at Cullumpton’s fantastic new Hayridge Centre, turning 85 children (and their teachers) into gorillas, mammoths and pirates. There was laughter. There were bubbles. There was book signing. And then…

Writing Goodnight Rocket.

…it was off to Halberton Primary School to do it all over again! This time we had chance not just to see how Goodnight Pirate went from pencil drawings to a finished book, but also to write our own new addition to the Goodnight series – Goodnight Rocket!

I had a brilliant day, the kids were wonderful, Susie Tyler and her helpers had organised everything so well and it really was a pleasure from start to finish. What a lucky town Cullumpton is to have such an exciting festival to look forward to every year and to have such enthusiastic folk – young and younger! – driving it forwards. See you again soon, Cullumpton!
